Gotcha Costume Rental and Theatrical Supply
New Stories and History
Gotcha Stays OPEN!
By Larry Dietzel the facts as I know recollect.
Some time around 1970, a store at 819 East Walnut opened its doors. Its name was Nostalgia Shop. I can remember as a kid, riding my bike to the store in the 1970's seeing the wooden Indian beside the door and being in awe of the Halloween masks, magic tricks, and other novelties. The only other place you would see such treasures was in the back of the old comic books. In the year 1996, a young Aaro Froese purchased the costume, rental, magic and novelty portion of the Nostalgia Shop's business and opened Gotcha Costume Rental at 27 N. Tenth Street. For 21 years, Aaro grew Gotcha into a popular, eccentric and unusual store, well-loved in our community. In December of 2017, My wife saw a Facebook posting from Aaro that he was selling Gotcha. She said to me "boy would that be fun". We both have extensive theater experience and we have a large theatre network in the mid-Missouri area. As events played out, we fell into to taking over Gotcha on January 1st, 2018 and keeping its doors open! This adventure is full of new experiences for us, and with the support of Aaro and his wife, and many friends, we will succeed! Thanks to all who have patronized Gotcha in the past, and to our future patrons. We hope you will come by introduce yourselves, and check out the new owners!
